GDS ADM and ETS for Drive Auchan Italy
GDS ADM and
ETS have just finished their first kiosk installation in Italy for the
innovative service Drive
Auchan (www.driveauchan.it). The service allows clients
to make their purchases online or from a Self Service Kiosk outside the
supermarket and collect the goods in the designated “Drive
Auchan” parking area.
The kiosks have been designed and produced by GDS ADM (www.gds-adm.com www.gds.com
), a subsidiary of the
international GDS Group, while the software has been adapted by ETS (www.ets.it), software house from Modena
(Italy).
The
installation of Turin (Corso Romania, 460 - 10156 Torino - Italy), is
currently in the testing phase. It is considered a good omen that
Auchan chose Turin to launch this project, as this is the first Italy
based store opened back in 1989 by the supermarket giant, which now has
49 superstores in 11 italian regions.
The Drive
Auchan service is very easy to use.
Registered customers (issued with registration code) can purchase the
goods online at www.driveauchan.it
and can decide the date and the hour for the goods to be picked up.
Payment can be made online or directly at the kiosk in front of the
‘Drive Auchan’ pick up area. On arrival at
‘Drive Auchan’, customers log in with their
personal code at the Self Service kiosk where they are given the
receipt, along with the parking point number where they can collect
their bags. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes.
This first
installation includes 6 ‘Smart Pay Outdoor’ and 1
‘Smart Pay Indoor’.
ETS with its
proprietary Payment Automation Technology “ETS SMART
PAY” allows for flexible and fast interfacing and a perfect
integration with the Auchan’s own software system.
Additionally ETS has incorporated into the Italian software order
management functionality (allowing the clients to select the goods and
place the order also at the DriveAuchan kiosk) as well as payment
processing, allowing the use of POS and cash (the latter, although
working perfectly, is yet to go live).
From a
mechanical perspective, GDS-ADM kiosks have the unique possibility of
being able to adjust the height of the kiosk depending on the height of
the car or of the customer (for the outdoor version) or the high of the
client (indoor version). The latter allows those with physical
impairments to use the system. The displays used in the outdoor
applications benefit from the proprietary technologies of GDS that
allows information displayed to be readable even in direct sunlight
conditions. All GDS-ADM outdoor kiosks produced for DriveAuchan have an
anti vandal, fraud and intrusion protection external case.
ETS software
has been designed to offer maximum freedom to the choice of internal
electronic and hardware components. For this reason, ETS e GDS ADM were
able to select the most suitable peripherals for both
Auchan’s Indoor and Outdoor Self Service applications.
