All our global accounts start from an identified product specification and this forms the basic customer need. Our skill is to understand each of our customer's needs when reading the specification. For example, a specification may identify a need for a specific LCD panel manufacturer. This may or may not be a definite requirement; however, it is up to the Account manager to clearly understand why the specification demands a particular LCD manufacturer. It might be as simple as "this is what has been specified previously." If so the skill would be to see if an alternative panel might be suitable that could benefit GDS and the customer in terms of price and economies of scale.

Some markets are very much price driven, which leaves little room to add value. In general GDS does not want to position itself in these markets. We are looking for customers that value the whole display life cycle from cradle to grave. The needs of these customers are much more complex. They will place value on the total cost of ownership, which mirrors the service provided by GDS.

Companies with an annual display budget >$10M and 20,000 units pa. These customers' primary focus is on quality, service and cost of ownership. They require high levels of resource in all functional areas of the business. Normally they require ground up developments and always require a high degree of relationship management.
